The center of a world empire brought down by the wrath of god on All Saint’s Day. From its debris, a new Lisbon emerged.

On this tour, we will start in the Commerce Square, to provide you with a mental image of what happened that day.

Going around downtown, we will arrive in Chiado, a neighbour currently know for its shopping area, which also holds a sort of portuguese broadway housing many theaters.

In the same area, Carmo Square can be found. Here lies the top of Santa Justa lift as a viewpoint of the city, as well as the ruins of a former convent. The visible damages of the earthquake can be found in such place.

Next stop is São Pedro Sightseeing, near bohemian Bairro Alto, a traditional, yet excentric neighbour.

After absorving the city’s essence from this viewpoint, we will carry on to Park Eduardo VII, for yet another outstanding sightseeing.

As we head back to downtown, we will go over the statue of Marquis of Pombal, the responsible for Lisbon’s post-earthquake rebuilding.

The large avenue coming next is the portuguese champs-élysées along with its luxury shops, Avenida da Liberdade.

From there, Rossio Square will be reached to admire the aesthetics of the portuguese pavement. Here marks the center of the city and also the end of the tour.

Feel free to grab a coffee in the many cafes situated in this square.
